Journal: Wash Your Hands
Saturday, August 8, 2009

I survived P.chemistry. The quiz was, easy. It was just 1 question, and it was on calculating enthalpy change, I think the only part I messed up was the SI unit D:

Anyway, I have this 3-day long weekend ahead of me before another traumatizing week starts. I have another math quiz next week, my german written exam. Another IPCT paper due and another IPCT trip to Singapore General Hospital with a report attached. Great. Next week is supposed to be the last week and I have this much stuff to be done. And I forgot, I also have a lab report to hand in. I love school so much, seriously.

Now you know why I'm so glad that National Day landed on a Sunday this year. Or even better, it'll be on a Monday next year and school starts only on Wednesday. Wait, it only applies to Primary and Secondary kids. Shit.

I think I'll take the day off today and cram tomorrow and on Monday. I can go sort out my mood themes because I really need to finish labeling my DBSK mood themes in case it gets all mixed up. Haha, and I found a batch of DBSK mood themes :D

And you know, it's important to wash your hands after you go to the toilet and especially before you eat because I had the most gruesome lecture yesterday on Parasitology. And if you beg to differ, you should really get a glimsp of Pinworms hanging down from the walls of your intestine. It's the most gruesome-est-est-est thing ever on planet earth the entire universe. And then you have the Guinea worms where a 35cm long whitish worm crawls out of your wound -that is if you are injured else I suppose it stays in you-, it crawls out of your wound, repeat: crawls out of your wound. And that's not the worst part of the entire situation, the worst part is that you cannot pull the worm out even if usual human reaction was to pull the cursed thing out. If you were to pull then worm out, the worm snaps and the person would suffer from secondary infection which is fatal because the worm rots when it dies and there will be bacterial infection. And instead, you should take a twig and roll the worm out. Coax it out 2cm by 2cm, day by day. Which means that you have to roll the worm out by 2 cm every day for 2 weeks -to reduce tension in case you break the worm- before the worm is out and you cannot snap the worm in the process. And that does not mean that there's only 1 worm or does it also not mean that you can only get infected once. Which means that there can be more than 1 worm and that it also means that you can get infected again and again.

I was really disturbed after seeing the pictures and I really cannot believe that the lecturer was actually talking about worms crawling out of wounds quite-matter-of-factly in a lecture theather occupied by 200 kids feeling butterfiles in their tummies. Our lecturers must really be something, eh?

And oh, after the SCL National Day Celebrations yesterday, I think YSS holds the best ND Celebrations ever.
